PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This interdisciplinary degree-diploma combination is offered by Lakehead University and Georgian College. Upon completion, you will receive both an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Life Sciences from Lakehead University and the Biotechnology Diploma from Georgian College.

The degree-diploma combination focuses on the study of living organisms at the bio-molecular (or cellular) level. This program blends theories and practices from anthropology, biology, chemistry and physics with hands-on learning through laboratory courses, application of experimental techniques and use of scientific equipment. Students will explore diverse topics to understand the extent of biological diversity at the molecular level and develop critical thinking skills with respect to modern life science. Topics include:

  • physiology
  • pharmacology

Our focus on the practical application of your skills provides you with valuable laboratory and data analysis training, as well as experience working as part of an interprofessional team. As a graduate, you will be well prepared for a career in a biomedical field.

Program-specific requirements for Ontario high school students: Grade 12 U English, Grade 12 U Advanced Functions, two credits from: Grade 12 U Chemistry, Grade 12 U Physics, Grade 12 U Biology, Grade 12 U Earth and Space Science, Grade 12 U Calculus and Vectors or Grade 12 U Math of Data Management and two additional Grade 12 U or M credits
