Fall 2020 Information Sessions Contest Rules and Regulations

      • October 14, 28 or December 8 at 7:00 p.m.
    • Program Spotlight
      • November 11, 18 or 25 at 7:00 p.m.
      • December 2 at 7:00 p.m.

Rules and regulations

  1. This contest is sponsored by the Lakehead-Georgian Partnership, a collaboration between Lakehead University and Georgian College (hereinafter collectively “Lakehead-Georgian”). In these rules and regulations, references to “you”, “your”, and “Entrant” refer to individuals who have chosen to participate in the contest.
  2. This contest is open to all attendees of . This contest is open to residents of the Province of Ontario 16 years of age and older. Any winner under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign an affidavit of eligibility. No purchase is necessary to enter this contest. Void where prohibited by law. Quebec residents are excluded from participating regardless of receiving and having accepted an offer of admission.
  3. The maximum entries per individual is 7 (seven). Maximum entry per individual per session is 1 (one). To enter:
    • Attend one of our online information webinars. You can sign up for one of the online information sessions via our website event listings page.
    • You must have attended the event of your selected time slot.
  1. The winner of the prize will be drawn at random from eligible entries received while the contest is open based on the criteria listed above. The proposed winner will need to answer a mathematical skill testing question, without assistance or mechanical aid to be determined the final winner.
  2. Contest opens on October 14, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. EDT and ends December 9, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. EDT
  3. There is one (1) prize per information session.
    • The selected entrant will win one (1) prize pack valued at $100. The prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be transferred or exchanged or combined or used in concert with another contest or another offer. Prize is non-transferable and must be accepted as awarded. Prize is not convertible to cash. However, Lakehead-Georgian may in its sole discretion substitute prizes of the same or greater value.
    • The prize is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied, and cannot be exchanged for cash or other substitutes.
  1. The Winner, or the Winner`s legal guardian if the Winner is under the age of 18, must sign a liability waiver and publicity release, releasing Lakehead-Georgian, its Board of Governors, its advertising and promotional agencies, the affiliates and related entities of the foregoing and all respective directors, officers, partners, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assignees from any liability in connection with this Contest or the Prize awarded as a condition to and in advance of receiving the Prize, or the prizes will be forfeited.
  2. Lakehead-Georgian reserves the right not to select a winner or winners, if, in its sole determination, it does not receive eligible and/or qualified entries.
  3. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
  4. Entrants agree their name may be announced on Lakehead-Georgian’s website and other associated social media sites if they are selected as the winner of the contest.
  5. The proposed winner will be contacted via the email account used to RSVP for the online information session three (3) days after the event. If the proposed winner does not respond within three 3 days following the first attempt at contact, if the proposed winner’s entry is deemed ineligible, if the proposed winner fails to correctly answer the skill testing question, or if the proposed winner declines the prize, the prize will be awarded to another Entrant using the procedure outlined in paragraph 4 above.
  6. Personal Information
    Lakehead-Georgian will use personal information collected from entrants to administer the contest. Lakehead-Georgian will not share personal information relating to entrants with any third parties, except as may be required by law. Lakehead-Georgian will not attempt to contact any entrants for any other purpose than as set out in these rules and regulations unless the entrant has consented to receive relevant communications from Lakehead-Georgian or as otherwise allowed under applicable laws.
  7. By entering this contest, you declare that you have complied with all of these rules and regulations and met all eligibility requirements.
  8. Your participation in this contest is solely at your own risk.
  9. Lakehead-Georgian reserves the right to amend these contest rules and regulations or to terminate the contest at any time without any liability to any entrant.
  10. By entering this contest, each entrant agrees to release and hold harmless Lakehead University and Georgian College, Instagram and Facebook and any of their representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers, and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from
    • such entrant’s participation in this contest and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof;
    • technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunction of any computer, cable, network, hardware, or software, or other mechanical equipment;
    • the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions, telephone, or Internet service;
    • unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the promotion;
    • electronic or human error in the administration of the promotion or the processing of entries.
  1. The decisions of Lakehead-Georgian in relation to this contest will be final and binding on all entrants.
  2. Lakehead-Georgian is compliant with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and endeavours to protect your personal information in accordance with this law. The personal information requested on this form is collected under the legal authority of the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002 and in accordance with Sections 38(2) and 41(1) of FIPPA.
